The Walled Garden
Restoration of the walled garden started early in 2007. Although the walls were in good condition much of the garden had been taken over by brambles, sapling ash, oaks and couch grass. All paths were over grown and all edging either removed and sold or completely grown in.
The aim is to restore the vegetable and cut flower beds, fruit cage, paths (originally gravel but now grass), and edgings, using original tiles where possible, back to the condition the garden was in its hey day of the early 1900’s.

Fruit trees were planted on the south-facing wall in early spring 2008; the west-facing wall will be planted in 2009.
The iron arch leading to the east doorway has been repaired, re-erected and climbers planted.
It is intended that there will be on-going improvements over the next 5 years when much of this historic garden will be back in production.
Organic status has been applied for and vegetables and fruit are available for visitors to buy.
