Upton Castle Gardens and Medieval Chapel Pembrokeshire

Upton Castle Gardens are one of Pembrokeshire’s hidden gems and a must for gardening enthusiasts or anyone wanting to experience real peace and tranquillity.

An exceptional collection of rare trees forms the basis of the Arboretum, amongst which are the large Davidii involucrate (Handkerchief Tree), Fagus heterophylla (Fern Leafed Beech), Cunninghamia, Podocarpus, Liriodendron tulipfera (tulip tree) and the Magnolias to mention a few.

In all there are 18 ‘Champion’ trees (as listed on the National Tree Register) and the massive Taxus baccata (Yew Tree) – designated as a “Heritage Tree” – which is said to be at least 800 years old. We also have a number of listed “Veteran Trees”.
